The Coup, "Party Music"

310803coup.jpgIndulge me for a moment, people. Yeah, this is four years old. But when it came out in 2001, it got more attention for its controversial album cover--which, incidentally, predated the 9/11 attacks--than its tracks.

Which is a shame, because "Party Music" is a fucking primo album. I've been listening to it all morning. Hearing about Sandra Day O'Connor now, though, I'm cranking it and preparing for the Revolution. I thought you could use some similar triumph of the will to get agitated on this, the start of our holiday weekend. (Note the Funkadelic sample, and the call to arms.)

Happy Birthday, America. Get ready to brawl.
