It must be 5 o'clock somewhere in the world
You know that when the Travel section of the Times catches onto a town, that signals the final death knell. (And hell, they mention Wall's BBQ, arguably one of the best restaurants in Savannah, but not The Crystal Beer Parlor? Did they even visit?) Not to mention, the best bars closed long ago, but still, I've got a soft place in my heart for Savannah, home of the alcoholic "to-go" cup and kamikaze gators. Posted by Dana at 11:33 AM

Posted by: Octavia at June 21, 2005 10:34 PMwhat's with the Times penchant for small Southern towns lately? they covered Tallahassee a couple weeks ago... even mentioned our favorite Chinese buffet (?!)
Posted by: z at June 22, 2005 01:55 PMps... layout's REE-al purdy.
Posted by: z at June 22, 2005 01:56 PMWall's was the spot...is Tanner's still around?...Best chicken sammiches hands down.

Vic
when did you graduate? was grumpy's still there?
my good buddy krusty used to go there (graduated 93 i think). you may have heard about her. she's the girl who was punched off of her bike one night when cruising by a pack of bike-thieving rednecks. i guess that story was told at orientation for the next few years as a warning to students about walking the rough and tumble savannah streets alone.
dig the new look, by the way.
cheers

Grumpy's was still there on Broughton St., but it changed hands and became more college-kid-friendly. Everyone still called it Grumpy's.
Everyone had their bike stolen in Savannah. (Though I was fortunate not to be on mine when it happened to me.)

I miss Pinkie's. We had some good times in that tar covered cave.
