RightRides, a new neighborhood organization that provides safe, late-night transportation home, is offering a free 90-minute self-defense workshop for women and transfolks, led by Brenda Jones of the Center for Anti-Violence Education. It's this Sunday, Oct. 24, from 1 pm-2:30 pm, at the Greenpoint Y (99 Meserole Ave). With the disturbing rise in violence in Greenpoint/Williamsburg, it couldn't hurt to attend.
