Souvenir

It's CMJ and the streets are chockablock with rock stars, which is how I envisioned every day was like here when I was a kid. I'm sure there isn't a dry panty in NYC bloggerland (prepare for your Pamela Des Barres moments, ladies). Anyhow, I saw Richard Buckner walking down the street by the gime. He paused at Other Music, but didn't go in. I hoped that perhaps he'd stop at my destination, but he didn't appear to be desirous of a pressed panini sammich. I should've followed him and bought him a beer and asked if VW paid him enough for Ariel Ramirez.

OK, tell your country bumpkin friend. What's CMJ? I looked at the website and I still couldn't figure it out.

College Music Journal is a college/modern-rock trade magazine. (They also publish "CMJ New Music Monthly", a mass-market music mag.)

The CMJ Music Marathon happens every year and is basically a music festival akin to SXSW in Austin -- lots of clubs, lots of bands, lots of shows, lots of hipster starfuckers and other annoying people clogging everything up. It has a reputation for breaking bands to the labels...lots of showcases, label parties, et cetera.

Shhh, shhh.

Vidiot did a better job explaining than I could've, tiz, except he left out the annoying A&R douchebags talking nonstop on their cellphones during the shows.

Ah, I didn't know normal mortals could even go to the shows without having a CMJ pass (or being a douchebag).

Why thanks, I feel a whole lot less ignorant now.

Yesterday on Hudson St, I saw Tom and Flo from Family Bonds. What a day to forget my damn camera.

Same here. And if Chris had been there, I would have REALLY lost my shit. Totally.
