Through the transomThis is encouraging. It was just emailed to me: You may be interested in knowing that at 12:30 p.m. today, as part of its 75th anniversary celebration and in coordination with Federal Aviation Administration air traffic controllers , Delta Airlines Flight 9995, a Boeing 767-200, will depart John F. Kennedy International Airport for a short flight over the New York-New Jersey metropolitan area. The aircraft will be at an altitude of 4,000 feet.OK, so I'm not allowed to take a photo on the subway and meanwhile Delta's got carte blanche to do donuts around the fucking Statue of Liberty in a 767?!? (Also, the editor in me would like to snark: They're painting the aircraft while it's 4,000 feet in the air?) Posted by Dana at 09:55 AM

Hey, give 'em a break. It's not like Delta's gonna be around much longer anyway.
(More's the pity for my DL miles...)
Posted by: Vidiot at August 20, 2004 11:16 AMwhat, you got some insider knowledge? some reason i should use my miles post-haste?
Posted by: reeves at August 20, 2004 11:23 AMSigns point to yes, reeves.
Posted by: dana at August 20, 2004 11:25 AMAll the legacy carriers are in trouble, but DL is by far the closest to the brink at the moment.
I'm currently trying to figure out where my SkyMiles should take me.
Posted by: Vidiot at August 20, 2004 01:17 PMI thought USAirways are in bigger trouble?
Posted by: dana at August 20, 2004 01:22 PMGreat Leader has 175.000 Skymiles and nowhere to go!
Posted by: SEGREATRIAT of THE GREAT LEADER at August 20, 2004 05:24 PMVidiot, if I might make a suggestion - Delta flies to CVG! Y'all could come to Keeneland for the fall meet. Would we not have an excellent time?!?
Posted by: tizzie at August 21, 2004 09:09 AMdelta isn't dead yet, but it's wheezing pretty bad.
sad to see, because delta is a southern institution, like co-cola, wednesday prayer meetings, and driving polluted.
my momma is pretty unhappy about it. she use to be a stewardess, and later, was in their ads.
you drink a coke, you fly delta, and you come to Jesus.
