the poem, in effect is about a husband taking the last juicy plum from the fridge, and leaving a note on the fridge door ( the actual poem) that simply states:( paraphrased) I apologize for taking the last plum from the refridgerator. I know you were planning on eating it. It was so Juicy, and so cold.
