I'm wide awake on memories

I just remembered a dream I had this weekend. It was set in the future, and I was driving around. And nothing was different: no flying cars, no jet packs. There were still tons of strip malls.

But all of the bars had been replaced by these things called Mothering Stations. And you could go in there and be hugged and comforted by motherly types.

That's Straight Outta Huxley, yo. Were there also Fathering Stations where a frustrated scowling man in Bermuda shorts grumbles at you and tells you to get a haircut and a job.

I had a similarly themed epiphany back when we bought a Furby. It was entertaining as hell for a while, until I realized that we owned an affection-dispensing robot.

Also one night I left him sitting on my desk for awhile while I typed something and he sniffed and said "Boring."

Shit, thrown in those robot cops from THX1138 and the future is Florida.

That seems nice. Hopefully it's the near future, and hopefully they can penetrate new york's cold, hard shell.
